What is Veterinary HDR Brachytherapy?

Companion Curietherapy is the world's first dedicated veterinary cancer treatment center to utilize high dose-rate brachytherapy (HDR brachytherapy), a highly effective and specialized cancer treatment option.

In a simplified nutshell, HDR Brachytherapy utilizes a radioactive "seed" that is sent via catheters directly to a cancerous tumor. Because the radiation source is sent internally, we are able to effectively treat the tumor without affecting the surrounding tissue with radiation.  We see a high cure-rate and the pets we treat often maintain a good quality of life after the treatment.
